Your X endorsement is worth $125,000 a year here.

Speed Freight has run dedicated hazmat out of Chicago since 2013. These are the loads most carriers won't touch and shippers pay a premium for, and that premium goes to the driver hauling it. 90 trucks, late model equipment, and money in your account every Friday morning.

Two schedules. Both pay above market.

Same freight, same equipment, same dispatch. The only difference is how often you sleep in your own bed.

The truck you'll be in

You'll live in it. We spec it that way.

Late model Freightliners and Volvos, 2022 to 2027, maintained in our own shop. Not a 900,000 mile hand me down from the driver who quit.

  • APU, sleep cool in July, warm in January, without idling
  • Sinewave inverter, run real appliances, not just a phone charger
  • Microwave and fridge installed, so stop paying $22 a meal at the truck stop
  • 2022 to 2027 Freightliners and Volvos, automatic, full size sleeper
  • In house shop, our own techs and our own bays, not a two day wait at a dealer
  • Terminal in Streamwood, IL, 30 minutes from O'Hare
Unit 2502. Every truck in the fleet is spec'd the same way.
New Wabash dry vans. You are not dragging somebody else's problem.
Placarded and loading at a customer plant. This is the freight.

"Settlement hits Friday morning like clockwork and the math is right every time. Twenty two years driving and that is not something I can say about most places I have been."

"Had unexpected issues arise at a shipper and George Tesic and his driver were very professional, communicated every step of the way, and very fair in negotiations. Thank you team, hope to work together again soon!"

"Truck is clean and the shop is ours, so I am not sitting two days at a dealer waiting on a part. Dispatch knows my name and picks up when I call."

Straight talk

Do you qualify? 30 seconds to find out.

We'd rather you know now than waste a week. Hazmat freight has hard federal lines we can't move.

You're a fit if you have

  • A valid Class A CDL
  • X endorsement (Hazmat + Tanker), or H and N separately
  • 2+ years verifiable tractor-trailer experience
  • A current DOT medical card
  • Clean MVR and PSP
  • Ability to pass a federal background check and DOT drug screen

Not a fit right now

  • No hazmat endorsement and no plan to get one
  • Under 2 years of verifiable experience
  • DUI or DWI within the last 5 years
  • SAP program within the last 5 years or not yet completed
  • Multiple recent moving violations or a preventable accident pattern
  • Current CDL suspension
Close but not quite? If you're CDL-A with 2+ years and you're scheduled to test for your X endorsement, still apply, we hold seats for drivers already in the process. Call (224) 404-1453 and say you're testing.

What happens after you hit apply

Three steps. No black hole.

You'll hear from a human before you hear from an automated system. That's the whole process.

1

Fill out the application

Standard DOT application, the same one every carrier uses. Do it from your phone in the truck. You can save and come back.

About 10 minutes
2

A recruiter calls you

A real conversation about pay, lanes, home time and your MVR. No script. If it's not a fit, we tell you on that call.

Within 24 hours
3

Orientation, then roll

Paid orientation, keys to a late model Freightliner or Volvo, and your first dispatch. Your $500 bonus and first settlement land that Friday.

Before you apply

The questions drivers actually ask.

Is the $.80 CPM real, or is that the top-out nobody hits?

It's the top of our scale and it's tied to experience and safety record, not a mileage lottery. On the recruiter call we'll tell you the exact number you'd start at before you go any further. If your number is lower than $.80, we say so on that call, not after orientation.

How does the $500 orientation bonus work?

Complete orientation and it's paid out on your first settlement, the same Friday as your first week's pay. No 90-day wait, no clawback schedule buried in the paperwork.

How is home time handled on OTR-48?

You tell dispatch your schedule and we plan loads around it. Drivers who want 2 weeks out and 3 days home get that. Drivers who want longer runs get those. Regional drivers get full Saturday and Sunday, every week.

When exactly do I get paid?

Weekly direct deposit, hitting your account Friday at 5:15 AM. Settlements are itemized so you can check every line yourself.

What if my X endorsement is expired or I only have H?

Call us. If you have H and N separately, that works. If your X is expired but renewable, we've walked drivers through it before and there are seats waiting on the other side of it.

I've got something on my MVR. Should I bother?

If it's a minor violation or two, apply and let's talk. If it's a DUI or DWI in the last 5 years, or a SAP program in that window, we won't be able to put you in a hazmat truck, and we'd rather tell you that in one phone call than string you along.

Are you a big carrier or a small one?

90 trucks, family-owned, running since 2013 out of Streamwood, Illinois. Big enough that the freight is steady and the settlements never bounce. Small enough that the people making decisions know your name.

Ready when you are

Every week you wait is a week at the old rate.

One application. A real phone call within 24 hours. Keys in about 72, plus a $500 bonus on your first settlement. If we're not a fit, you'll know fast and you'll know why.
